PESI welcomes applications for the Global Studies China Program from undergraduatestudents in good academic and judicial standing at any college oruniversity. Before you submit any application forms, be sure to seekthe advice ofyour institution’s study abroad advisor or your academic advisor.

Admissions Requirements

Admission to the PESI Global Studies China Program in based on the following criteria: good academicand judicial standing, essay, references, demonstrable maturity and serviceorientation, extra-curricular activities, and work and volunteer or ministryexperience.

We strongly encourage thesubmission of completed applications. Applications will not be reviewed until all application materials are onfile. If an applicant chooses to submit an incomplete application, it is his orher responsibility to ensure that all materials are received by our office.Late applications are reviewed on a space-available basis. A $100 discount isgiven for applications completed 30 days before the deadline.

The Application Process

To participate in the CISProgram, you will need to submit the following application materials. Please note that we will not review your application until we havereceived all of these materials:

• General application form
• Application essay
• Faculty reference forms (1)
• Personal reference form (1)
• Study abroad approval form
• Foreign language assessment form (for students enrolling in the Chinese language program)
• Official transcripts of all college course work
• A $40 non-refundable application fee

Application Deadlines:	Beijing Program: March 15
	Shanghai Program: APRIL 15 (available summer 2011)

Lateapplications will be considered on an individual basis only if there isspace available and late arrangements can be made at the program site. All late applications must be accompanied by the application fee and$300 program deposit which is non-refundable, unless you are notaccepted to the program.

Next Steps

Enrollment Confirmation - After PESI hasreceived all of the above-mentioned materials, your application will bereviewed by our Admissions Committee and a decision made. You may becontacted by our office to discuss your application or to requestadditional information. Offers of admission are generally made within2-3 weeks. You will then have 2 weeks to reserveyour space in the program by submitting a $300 non-refundable deposit,medical report, visa materials, and other items specific to yourprogram. The $300 deposit will be applied to the total program fee.

Medical Report - The required confirmation materials include a medical report which must be completed by your physician. To avoid any delays, please make an appointment with your physician at the time you submit your application.

Passport & Visa– You must have a valid passport and Chinese visa to participate in theprogram. Your passport must be valid for at least six months after thecompletion of the program. If you do not have a passport, or if yourswill expire within 6 months before the end of the program, you should apply for one immediately. It can take six to eight weeks to receive a new passport, so if you areapplying after the April 15 deadline, please contact PESI to determinewhether you will need to expedite your passport application. Visaswill be obtained by PESI for the group once passports and visaapplication materials have been received. PESI can also provide instructions regarding how to apply for your own visa.

Program Cancellation

PESI reserves the right to cancel any program prior to departure dueto insufficient enrollments or other reasons. In such a case, acceptedapplicants would be given the choice of switching to a differentprogram site for the same period, deferring participation to a latersession at the same site, or withdrawing and receiving a full refund ofall payments made. Students who choose to cancel their enrollmentprior to the program’s start date are eligible for a partial refund asdescribed in our pre-departure materials.
