A pre-orientation package will include selected readings on China and Intercultural Studies from a variety of sources.
The
first three days of the program are devoted to orientation to acquaint
students with all aspects of the program and their new home on campus.
Students will meet program staff and be introduced to Shanghai through
lectures, excursions, group discussions, films and social gatherings.
The
Resident Director covers topics such as housing, transportation,
recreation, and health and safety. Students will learn about the
program objectives, discuss their personal and academic goals, and
attend group meetings that address issues of cross-cultural living,
learning and adaptation in China.
During the final two days of
the program, students participate in a debriefing and program
evaluation session to discuss their experiences and the outcomes of
their learning and have the opportunity to do more local touring and
visiting with new friends. Students will also acquire strategies for
integrating their overseas learning in their lives and studies back
home.
